The AiDiaspo library

Plain answers about AI, for the businesses of the Afro-diaspora.

All In began as our 2026 guide. Now it keeps growing: AI news checked against the original source every week, trusted resources, straight answers to the questions owners ask, and stories from businesses putting AI to work.

This week in AI for small business

What changed, in plain words.

Plain answers

Real questions. Straight answers.

There is a lot of noise about AI. These are the questions owners ask us most, answered without hype. Each answer links to where the guide goes deeper.

“It will replace my people.”

We automate tasks, not people. Your team moves from repetitive work to the work that grows the business, and we train them to lead it. More in the guide, page 9

“It wasn’t built for people like us.”

That is why we exist. We set tools up for your customers, your languages and your community, and test them before anyone relies on them. More in the guide, page 9

“My data won’t be safe.”

Each tool gets only the access its job needs. We never sell or share your data, and you can see what every tool touches. More in the guide, page 19

“I’m not a tech person.”

You don’t need to be. You know your business; we handle the technical side and explain everything in plain language. More in the guide, page 18

“It costs too much.”

Your first conversation is free. In it, you get a straight answer on what the assessment costs, in writing, before you commit to anything. The assessment is credited toward the first build, which starts with one clear target. More in the guide, page 22

“What if it gets it wrong?”

Sometimes it will. That is why a person approves anything that matters, and every step is logged and checked. More in the guide, page 14

Why now

The moment, the opportunity and the people ready to seize it.

All In · The moment04
01The moment

The biggest shift in business capability in a generation.

A five-person business, or a founder working alone, can now draw on capabilities that once took a fifty-person company: a marketing studio, an analyst, a multilingual service team, a back office and custom software, working around the clock.

CapabilityWhat it took beforeWhat it can take now
Market research
BeforeWeeks of work, or an outside firm
NowHours, done in-house and kept current
Customer service in several languages
BeforeA hire for every language and shift
NowAn assistant answering at any hour, in your customers’ languages
Marketing content
BeforeAn agency retainer
NowAn in-house studio working at the pace of your business

BeforeMonth-end spreadsheets and guesswork
NowA live view of cash flow, margins and what is coming

Our view

The businesses that win this decade will not be the biggest. They will be the ones that put AI to work first, and put it to work well.

02Why we exist

Why I built AiDiaspo.

Portrait of Sean Weekes, founder of AiDiaspo
Sean WeekesFounder, AI Integration Strategist

I have Caribbean roots, and I have spent nearly three decades inside major American corporations. Most recently, I helped launch some of the first AI projects at a major U.S. financial institution. I saw what AI makes possible at enterprise scale: faster work, sharper decisions and more reach from the same team.

And I kept asking one question: why should only the biggest companies get this advantage? Our businesses are built by people who made a way across generations and across oceans, often from nothing. What they have rarely had is access to the same tools and expertise.

AI changes that. Used well, it is a force multiplier. It lets a small team operate with the reach, intelligence and polish of a much larger company.

AiDiaspo brings enterprise discipline, deep AI expertise and cultural understanding to every partnership. We understand your customers, your languages and your ambitions, because they are ours too.

Our businesses should not be the last to benefit from AI. They should be among the first to lead with it.

All In · One diaspora06
03One diaspora, here at home

One diaspora. Many roots. All here.

When we say Black-owned business, we mean the whole Afro-diaspora: African Americans whose roots here run back centuries, and neighbors who arrived from the Caribbean and Africa. We are one global family, building side by side in every state.

Nearly nine in 10 Black Americans were born in the U.S. African American businesses are the heart of the diaspora here.1

Our readOur ties home are already a market: $20 billion went to the Caribbean and $57 billion to sub-Saharan Africa in 2024.2,3 AI lets every diaspora business carry more across that bridge.

All In · The American opportunity07
04The American opportunity

Our businesses are growing fast. AI can help them grow big.

Across the diaspora at home, Black-owned employer businesses grew 62% from 2017 to 2023, while U.S. employer businesses overall grew 3.3%. The ambition is proven. The limit now is capacity: time, staff and systems.4

Federal Reserve survey
14%

of small businesses using AI say it is fully built into their core operations. 73% want more training and support.6

Owner survey

Most owners have tried AI. Few have built it into how the business runs. That gap is where we work.

37%

Our readAI is a true force multiplier. A team of five can work like a company of fifty, and a founder on their own like a full team. That is the opening, and it is ours to take.

All In · Our advantages08
05Our advantages

Our businesses have strengths AI can multiply.

Diaspora-owned businesses span every industry, from technology and professional services to health care, construction, logistics and consumer brands. Many share strengths that AI can turn into scale.

Global networks

Relationships with partners, suppliers and clients across the Caribbean, Africa and North America.

Open new markets for import, export and cross-border services.

Multilingual reach

Teams and clients who work in more than one language.

Serve every client in their own language, at any hour.

Cross-market insight

First-hand knowledge of markets that larger competitors overlook.

Turn that knowledge into data-backed products and expansion plans.

Community trust

Clients return because they know and trust you.

Personalize service and build loyalty at scale.

Lean, versatile teams

People who already wear many hats.

AI takes the repetitive work so your people focus on growth.

Entrepreneurial resilience

Founders who have built from the ground up, often in a new country.

Pair that drive with systems built to scale.

We start from your strengths, then build the systems that let them scale.

All In · Fears, faced09
06Fears, faced

Healthy skepticism. Honest answers.

Half of Americans are more concerned than excited about AI. Black workers are more likely to fear for their jobs, and few people think AI is designed with Black Americans in mind.10,11 Those concerns are fair. Here is how we meet them.

“It will replace my people.”

We automate tasks, not people. Your team moves from repetitive work to the work that grows the business, and we train them to lead it.

“It wasn’t built for people like us.”

That is why we exist. We set tools up for your customers, your languages and your community, and test them before anyone relies on them.

“My data won’t be safe.”

Each tool gets only the access its job needs. We never sell or share your data, and you can see what every tool touches.

“I’m not a tech person.”

You don’t need to be. You know your business; we handle the technical side and explain everything in plain language.

“It costs too much.”

Your first conversation is free. In it, you get a straight answer on what the assessment costs, in writing, before you commit to anything. The assessment is credited toward the first build, which starts with one clear target.

“What if it gets it wrong?”

Sometimes it will. That is why a person approves anything that matters, and every step is logged and checked.

The bigger risk is sitting this one out

Generative AI could widen the racial wealth gap by $43 billion a year by 2045 if its gains follow today’s patterns.11 That outcome is not fixed. It depends on who adopts, who builds and who owns the results. This is a once-in-a-generation opening, and we intend to be on the building side of it.

What’s possible

From everyday assistance to entirely new business models.

All In · The AI growth ladder11
07The AI growth ladder

Most businesses stop at the first rung. We help you climb.

AI is not one tool. It is a set of capabilities that build on each other, and each level makes the next one possible.

Level 1

Everyday assistance

People use AI to write, research and summarize.

Drafting posts and replies

Where most businesses are
Level 2

Connected workflows

Your tools talk to each other, and routine steps run with your approval.

New client requests flow straight into your CRM, contracts and billing

Level 3

AI agents at work

Agents handle whole processes and hand off to people when needed.

A multilingual agent that answers, quotes and books around the clock

Level 4

Intelligence and foresight

Your data becomes dashboards, forecasts and sharper decisions.

Cash-flow and demand forecasts a quarter ahead

Level 5

New business models

AI opens products, services and markets that were out of reach.

A new digital service sold in three countries

About the art: each image shows its level through the way its shapes relate, moving from being supported to becoming connected, coordinating activity, anticipating what comes next and creating new possibilities. The gold thread is the owner’s direction and judgment throughout.

Our role

We work across all five levels, meet you where you are today and build a clear path to where you want to be.

11Evidence

AI rewards the businesses that implement it well.

The gains are real. So is the gap between businesses that put AI to work well and those that do not.

How many small businesses use AI? It depends on the question.

U.S. firms using AI in business operations, 20261219.8%
SMEs using generative AI, seven countries, 20241331%
U.S. employer firms whose business or staff use AI, 2025546%
Surveyed U.S. small-business owners using AI, 2026676%

Lower figures ask whether AI is part of how a business operates; higher ones count any use of an AI tool. Samples and countries differ.

Our read

In the Kenya study, both groups asked similar questions and got similar advice. The difference was which suggestions they acted on, and how. Implementation, not access, decided the result.

Research caution. These studies examine specific populations and uses. Neither establishes what an AiDiaspo client will achieve.

All In · The next generation16
12The next generation

Our young people will build differently.

Young Americans are taking up AI, and starting businesses, faster than any generation before them. Many will start businesses that look nothing like the ones they grew up around.

35%

of Black U.S. teens use AI chatbots every day, compared with 22% of white teens.16

66%

year-over-year growth in new business applications from Gen Z founders in mid-2026, the fastest of any generation.17

7 in 10

Gen Z founders used AI to help start their business in 2025, compared with 42% of baby boomers.18

AI assistants can prepare work and handle routine steps, but they make mistakes. A solo founder still needs safeguards, and still owns every decision.

How we work

All In · How we partner18
13How we partner

Not a generic AI consultant. A partner for the long run.

The expertise of a top-tier technology partner, the understanding of someone from your community, and a partner who stays as AI keeps changing.

01

Discover & design

We map your business against the growth ladder and six engines, and agree on clear priorities.

02

Connect & implement

We build and connect the systems, test them and set who approves what.

03

Monitor & grow

We measure results, train your team and take you up the next level, every quarter.

All In · Trust19
14Trust and accountability

Enterprise-grade care, sized for your business.

The same discipline large companies rely on, built around the tools you already use. You never hand over control of your customers or your information.

People stay accountable.

You approve anything that matters: customer messages, prices and changes to important records.

Data access stays limited.

Each tool gets only the access its job needs, through official connections between your apps.

AI only where it earns its place.

Judgment calls get AI. Predictable steps get plain rules, which are cheaper, faster and easier to test.

Failures are visible.

If something breaks, a named person is alerted right away, and every step leaves a record.

The first question

Not “Can AI do this?” but “Should it, under what conditions, and who stays responsible?”

What we will never do
  • Sell or share your data
  • Send anything to your customers without your approval
  • Lock you into software you cannot leave
  • Claim results we have not proven

Opportunity.
Growth.
Lasting strength.

Helping Afro-diaspora businesses across the United States turn opportunity into growth, and growth into lasting economic strength.

About the artwork: the golden thread

A single gold thread runs through every piece of art in this guide. It stands for the human in the loop: your judgment, your values and your decisions, guiding every intelligent tool we build. AI multiplies what your business can do. Your hand stays on the thread.

And the two gold letters in our title? A and I. Artificial intelligence, yes. And African intelligence, which was in our DNA long before it was in the cloud.

On the growth ladder, each image shows its level through the way its shapes relate, and the thread is the owner’s direction and judgment throughout.

  1. 1
Everyday assistance · Support and lift

The navy curve supports the lighter form as both rise together: help with work you already do. The thread follows their meeting point.

  2. 2
Connected workflows · Separate parts finding a rhythm

Three distinct forms follow one flowing path. The thread crosses the gaps between them as work moves between tools, each part keeping its own identity.

  3. 3
AI agents at work · Coordinated, continuing activity

The ribbons interweave into one continuous form that keeps moving. The thread passes through the weave, keeping human guidance inside the process.

  4. 4
Intelligence and foresight · Seeing a pattern extend ahead

Layered curves repeat, open and lighten. The thread follows the pattern, then reaches into open space. Its broken end leaves room for uncertainty.

  5. 5
New business models · Unfolding into something new

A compact navy fold opens into broader forms moving in new directions. The thread ties each one back to the business’s knowledge and purpose.

Supported → connected → coordinating → anticipating → creating.
